Where do we go from here?

First of all, thanks to everyone who has been reading. Looking at the numbers at the end of every day was definitely validating!

Two years ago, I started reproducing columns and reports that I was going to link to in blog posts, because a lot of stuff disappears behind a subscription wall after a certain amount of time elapses. I hate clicking a link and finding the reference now hidden, so this place was born.

Then came "Times Select" which really infuriated me - but I am a print subscriber, so the "mission" morphed into one of access for all.

Now the pay-wall is coming down at midnight, and everyone who wants to read will have unfettered access to the Times columnists. "Mission" accomplished.

Now, I ask you, the thousand or so readers who visit here daily, would you like to see this site, where you can leave comments on articles and columns, and where cookies are not collected, continue?

For the mildly curious, anyone interested in reading my original stuff can find it all over Left Blogsylvania...I write the blog Blue Girl, Red State, I am a front page diarist at Show Me Progress, and I am one of the founding bloggers at both the Out of Iraq Bloggers Caucus/Caucus Central and my real pride and joy, the important, often-linked, and growing-in-prominence-every-day Watching Those We Chose.

You're a good man, Blue Girl. A better man than most men, IMO.

    Keep up the good work.

    Thank you, thank you.

I echo Edger's sentiments; I, too, will follow your other blogs.

  6. No, no... thank YOU Dem girl, Rep state for the public service. Will bookmark your original stuff and be reading it. the Times should actually be thanking you for keeping their readership alive. your mission was certainly for a much worthy and laudable cause. keep it up!

I've relied on you, and I am grateful for your goddamned public service. Please stay open if you can, and I will read what you post of others and what you write yourself.

    Many thanks.

Thank you for helping NYT realize how silly greed can make you. And of course thank you for making their stuff accessible. If you keep this site alive, I'll be back to check it out.

    You're a great gal.

Great job, but now I think your original mission has been accomplished. If another site is blocking valuable opinion content, I'll be back to see if you've decided to take them on!

    Seriously- thanks.

My thanks, too. You have disproved what Gordon Gekko tried to tell us: "Greed is good."

Thanks for a job well done.

Thanks for being there, too bad I found out about your site so late in the game.
Maybe now that the Times carries him for free, you won't HAVE to carry David Brooks.

I don't think the NYT ended TimesSelect because they had a sudden conversion from the greed motive. They realized -- see the story that's been on their most emailed list for two days -- that they were actually limiting their profitability. Online ad rates are based on number of page hits; every time we readers headed to Screw Sub Walls (or other sites that did this), the NYT lost potential revenue. The whole TimesSelect proposition was disastrously stupid: it limited page views of the very material that people most like to discuss and link to -- Op Ed and Blogs. And getting talked about is the whole reason for a columnist's existence.

Anyway, thanks to Blue Girl for the service! I really have appreciated your making this material available and will check back to see what you come up with.

Thank you for the site. I only discovered it in June this year and visited only when I clicked on a Select link from some blog. And am here to see what happened after the Select wall tumbled.

It appears you've already made your decision about ssw, but if I could add a comment to your Blue Girl, Red State site, I would, but I cannot unless I scroll down two miles? Either the CSS is forked or, like this site, you've no sense of readability. The blue background here is bad enough but at BGRS all I see is big purple type on blue teal. Pure hell.

The 1st pressing of 400 and a 2nd pressing of 100 all on black vinyl. They can be distinguished, as the first pressing of the vinyl is translucent when viewed in front of light and the 2nd pressing is opaque black. get some Generic Cialis and enjoy. Some of the first pressings also included an alternate version of the sleeve and a small thank-you list in the form of an additional insert, which was not included with all copies. As of 2007 it has reached a value often over $200 on eBay auctions.
